It is important that all visitors can fully access and experience Thornton Hall Country Park. The information provided below will help you prepare and plan your visit.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING: We have a large car park with disabled parking available to the left of the main building.

 

 

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: 95% of the Park is wheelchair accessible. Do contact us in advance for any specific requirements/concerns – we will be happy to assist

 

CARER ADMISSION: Carer admission is free of charge on 1:1: ratio. Proof of carer ID required on entry.

 

ACCESSIBILITY ENTRANCE: Please speak to a member of the team upon arrival. For guests with hidden disabilities, we are members of the Hidden Disability Sunflower – we encourage and support our guests to wear their sunflower lanyard to assist staff in identifying you.

ACCESSIBLE TOILETS / BABY CHANGE: We have baby changing facilities in our main toilets located in the main courtyard. Whilst there is no specific adult changing area, the team will endeavour to provide a private area (please confirm prior to your visit).

 

ASSISTANCE DOGS: Please be aware that guide dogs are welcome but for the comfort and safety of our livestock, please leave other pooches behind.

 

QUIET ZONE: (Weekdays only) Please do inform a member of the team if you require a quiet room – they will do their best to assist you.

ACTIVITIES AND RIDES:

 

The following available rides are weather dependent and can be enjoyed by individuals with physical disabilities (additional charges apply):

 

  • Caterpillar barrel ride – individual barrels, visitors can enjoy the ride alone or an adult can sit and accompany a small child, wheelchair users would need to be transferred into the barrel.

 

  • Farm Safari – due to the nature of the Farm Safari vehicle, it is not possible to accommodate wheelchair users on the ride to visit the deer.

 

  • Pony Rides – with pony leaders to guide your pony, suitable for able-bodied.

 

  • Junior Quad Bikes – hand dexterity/control required. (suitable for ages 6-12)

 

HIDDEN DISABILITY SUNFLOWER MEMBERSHIP:

 

We are members of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to support employees and visitors with non-visible disabilities.

The Sunflower allows visitors with non-visible disabilities to discreetly let others know that they may need extra support, understanding or more time. We encourage and support our guests to wear their sunflower lanyard to assist staff in identifying you.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

For special events, fast track access is available for those who have booked to attend with a Carer. For guests with hidden disabilities, we are members of the Hidden Disability Sunflower – we encourage and support our guests to wear their sunflower lanyard to assist staff in identifying you.

Just Be You Christmas Adventure – Developed for children and adults with additional needs. Allowing for smaller groups, with lengthier time-slots and less stimuli.

Bonfire and fireworks – The firework display contains loud noise and music. An accessible viewing area is located further from the speakers. Ear defenders are recommended for anyone sensitive to loud noises.

Other special events – Be aware that there can be flashing lights and noise during live shows at themed events. If this will affect your family’s enjoyment, please let us know prior to your visit.
